How Texas electrician renewals work
A journeyman electrician license is valid for one year from the date it was issued and needs 4 hours of continuing education each cycle. The renewal fee is $30; renewing late costs $45 within 90 days and $60 up to 18 months.
Wait longer and it gets harder: from 18 months to 3 years it has to be renewed by mail with a request to TDLR's executive director, and after 3 years the electrician has to apply as a new applicant. TDLR sends a reminder about 60 days out, but renewing on time is the license holder's job.
